Hey web cajun. …
Hey web cajun. When you thin them out to 2 plants, do you transplant the one’s you are omitting from the hill?
When the weather …
When the weather warms up and you no longer have a chance for any frost plant them directly in the garden … just like in the video. Once planted keep them watered until they come up and you’ll do just fine. I picked more cantaloupe than I knew what to do with…… Donald
How did they do? I …
How did they do? I bought a pack of organic seeds and was told to start them indoors encased in glass. So, I’m waiting for them to germinate. is this a good method, or can I stick them directly in the ground like you? I live in So. California so the weather is lovely now
They should but if …
They should but if it’s a hybrid you may not get the same cantaloupe you started with. Buy yourself a pack of Hale’s Best Jumbo and you’ll be better off……… Donald
hey, this is kind …
hey, this is kind of a bad question, but if you get seeds out of Cantaloupe and dry them out will they grow if you plant them?
Starting them …
Starting them inside in late winter 3-4 weeks before your last frost date would give fruit about a month sooner. Anytime after that I would just plant them directly into the garden……… Donald
Really? I always …
Really? I always thought starting them in some seed trays early in the house, or a greenhouse ( I just use dirt from my feilds ) might make them produce earlier or have a longer producing period.
When ever possible …
When ever possible (depends on the vegetable) plant your seeds directly into the garden. Saves time and money……. Donald
Why do you plant …
Why do you plant your seeds strait in the ground and not start them inside? Does it make them grow stronger?

I’m going to have …
I’m going to have to try this next year. I’m way up in Canada but I’m going to start the seeds early in pots and then put them out in late may or so when the weather starts to get around 65F. June through september should be warm enough to let them grow so I dont know if that will give enough time to produce fruit but lets see. I know there are cantaloupe farms up here but the variety might be different. I am using seeds from a local kind so maybe its all good 🙂
Give em plenty room …
